History

Even though the name Frédérique Constant sounds like a really old Swiss company it was founded in 1988. The Dutch Peter and Aletta Stas started the company as they had the idea it should be possible to make classic Swiss made watches for an affordable price.
The name Frédérique Constant derives from a combination of the grand parents of Peter and Aletta: Frédérique Schreiner and Constant Stas. The location for the factory could only be one. not only should it be in Switzerland it should be in the home town of Swiss luxury: Plan-les-Ouates, Geneva.

Nowadays we can state that Frédérique Constant has conquered its place in the world of luxury watches with affordable prices for watches with luxury radiance. One of the key strategy points of Frédérique Constant is increase their independence of third parties. They currently build 21 different types of movements inhouse, which is remarkable in the watch industry.

The mission

Make Swiss Luxury affordable for everybody is the misson of Frédérique Constant. They plan to do so by keeping as much as possible the production in their own hands. In this way they have a good control over the whole production of the watch. All watches are still hand assembled in the factory in Plan-les-Ouates, Geneva by their own skilled watch makers.

The collection

The collection of Frédérique Constant starts with a firm base in quartz watches, followed by a great collection of automatic watches and a growing line of manufacture watches with inhouse created movements and not to forget the Horological Smartwatch. Frédérique Constant was the very first Luxury brand to introduce the smartwatch in their collection.
